Project Description

UCLA Extension and GCI Cyber Certificate Program for Business Executives

The UCLA Extension and GCI Cyber Certificate Program for Business Executives addresses cyber security risk management best practices by analyzing critical threats to the cyber world, studying the intersection of law, business, policy, and technology, and providing immersive learning experiences.  New regulations such as those promulgated by the SEC, CFTC, OCC, FTC, HHS Office of Civil Rights (OCR), and NYS Department of Financial Services to name just a few  place added cyber security accountability on senior executives, cyber or otherwise.

This program is built for senior executives with little to no cyber background and is taught by a world-class faculty composed of Fortune 500 CISO’s, hackers, insurance executives, cyber innovators, lawyers, government heads, and risk executives. The program does not accept everyone and applicants are screened to ensure that you are learning from your peers and not vendors.

Although cybersecurity has been a subject of interest for companies since the late 1990’s, increasingly it is an important part of nearly every aspect of business decision-making from due diligence in mergers and acquisitions to supply chain security and enterprise risk management. Senior Executives who understand cybersecurity and the technicalities of its mitigation, risk assessment, and policy have a competitive advantage. This course thus provides participants with opportunities to see and experience emerging cybersecurity technologies so they are aptly equipped to meet executive competitors.

The curriculum was built for senior executives from the ground up with a focus on cyber security literacy, law and policy, and risk management.  The class is rigorous and requires preparation before attending. The lessons all draw from real-world experience of the distinguished faculty

The program  is designed for executives, board members, policy makers, and senior leaders:

  • Who are active in enterprise risk management and policy-setting
  •  Who implement strategies to protect their organizations’ networks and data
  •  Who are responsible for business continuity, risk management or data infrastructure
  •  Who are seeking strategy and leadership skills

The UCLA Extension and GCI Cyber Certificate Program for Business Executives is made up of a challenging, interdisciplinary curriculum designed to prepare cybersecurity executives in their field.
